Larimar gemstone is a unique blue form of a mineral called pectolite. It can only be found in the Dominican Republic, near Barahona.

CARE AND CLEANING

Clean regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth to keep your Larimar jewelry or stones beautiful.

•  You are cleaning your Larimar stones with clear, unscented dish soap and a toothbrush. 
•  Gently wash with a soft brush using mild soap & warm water, 
•  Rinse beneath lukewarm water, 
•  Use a soft and dry cloth to pat it gently.
•  Allow drying entirely before storage, 
•  Store in a small, clear, resealable bag (if possible).

Larimar Durability and Care 

1. Larimar should not be exposed to chemicals, including perfumes, hand creams, and hand soaps. 
2. Clean the larimar jewelry after every use with a few drops of mild soap and a soft, dry cloth. Avoid brushing it too hard.

QUALITY

 It's somewhat softer than many other gemstones used in jewelry (Mohs 4.5 – 5), so it can be checked by carefully scratching the unpolished back of the piece with, for example, a part of quartz. If it doesn't scratch, it's not Larimar!

The finest stones are dark blue and translucent, but sky-blue specimens with cloud-like patterns are also highly prized.

Gem grading stands for Color, clarity, cut, and carat (weight). Gemologists grade gemstones based on these properties. This grading is the primary use for transparent gemstones.
